SUM 1.0 SP 14 and SP 15
Recently, we announced the availability of SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 14, which contains Software Update Manager (SUM) 1.0 SP 14 (see SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 14: improved Software Logistics Tools). Now we offer a supplement: for an intermediate period, SUM 1.0 SP 15 accompanies SUM 1.0 SP 14, and both have their own use cases:
- SUM 1.0 SP 14 for all use cases available until now
- SUM 1.0 SP 15 for all use cases targeting a system based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5
As the buddies know each other, you will get notified if you start the wrong tool for your scenario. Support and fixes will be provided for both versions.
SUM SP 15 is required e.g. for
- Update or Upgrade to systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5 (e.g. from SAP ECC 6.0)
- System Conversion to SAP S/4HANA on premise (*)

SUM 1.0 SP 16 will combine all use cases back in one tool, next year.
SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 15: successor for SPS 14
As you know, the SUM is part of the Software Logistics Toolset (SL Toolset) which we deliver approximately three times a year with a new SP-stack. It typically offers updated tools, which is reflected in a new SP-level for the tool, and a new SPS-level for the SL Toolset 1.0.
But we will not offer two versions of the SL Toolset in parallel: SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 15 follows on SPS 14. The SL Toolset is a delivery channel (rather a bundle than a real archive), and SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 15 now offers SUM 1.0 SP 15 (see SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 15: improved Software Logistics Tools).
Therefore, with SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 15, we have a new situation: SL Toolset will only offer an update only for the SUM, and the other tools remain on their SP-level. This is an intermediate situation until we offer SL Toolset 1.0 SPS 16 in Q1 2016 (current planning), with all tools on new SP-levels.
